Which DVR Card do you choose?

GeoVision DVR Cards

As far as technology in DVR Card products goes, it doesn't get much better than Geovision DVR cards. That might just be our opinion, but from what we've seen, we think that there are many others who agree with us. DVR technology has totally overwhelmed VCR technology as far as video surveillance goes, and Geovision DVR cards are becoming increasingly popular in many businesses and establishments that need security and video monitoring at all times.

Literally thousands of people, both individuals and corporations, are using Geovision DVR cards and DVR technology to do their video surveillance. If you don't believe it, go to any store where there are security cameras. I believe that 7 times out of ten there will be a DVR card in use there, and in the other 10 percent or less the business will be using a standalone surveillance server (and therefore be in desperate need of an upgrade). Stores and businesses all over the world are using DVR cards like those Geovision is offering to keep their businesses safe and free from theft, vandalism, and violence. Some examples of these businesses and how they use the technology are listed below.

Restaurants and hotels are some of the places that use Geovision DVR cards for their video surveillance needs. While at first thought you might not realize that these establishments would need such measures in place, if you think about it the reason is clear. For one thing, potential and wanted criminals need to eat and sleep, right? Many criminals have been caught because of the footage from these places. But it's not just for the benefit of the police and the city that these places have such good video surveillance, but also for their own good. These places often get robbed or held up, and it's a security measure that they feel is worth it to take.

Of course banks also use Geovision DVR cards and DVR video surveillance measures, for the same reasons as the restaurants and hotels. They need to find wanted people, as well as want to be able to identify anyone who tries to hold them up or rob them. But not only that, but with good video surveillance banks can identify and stop potential criminals and bank robbers before they even act, recognizing them by their actions and certain indicators.

Other places that make use of Geovision DVR cards and the technology behind them include offices and buildings especially when the occupants are away. Big buildings containing the offices of one or more important firms usually have this basic security measure in place so that the valuable information and items within aren't stolen.

Almost everywhere that has a security camera uses the technology that is DVR. DVR is the new normal in video surveillance and will continue to be until the day that someone invents and markets something better. Until that day you and your company should be sure to make use of GeoVision DVR cards and DVR technology for the best effects and the most reliable security system.

The main difference in any of the Geovision DVR cards is the speed or Frames Per Second (FPS) in which it records. So...

  • The GV-600 Records at 30 FPS
  • The GV-650 Records at 60 FPS
  • The GV-800 Records at 120 FPS
  • The GV-1120 Records at 120 / Displays real-time
  • The GV-1240 Records at 240 / Displays at 240
  • The GV-1480 Records & Displays in real-time 480

The FPS is always divided by the number of cameras that you have connected to your DVR. Unless you have the "Smart" feature enabled. This feature will shift the unused speed of cameras that are not recording to the ones that are recording.

For the above mentioned reasons, we recommend the following DVR Cards for these specific venues:

  • GV-600 - Office, hobby, home, Small business
  • GV-650 - Small business, medium size office
  • GV-800 - Factory, business, gas stations
  • GV-800 - Gas station, large home, restaurant
  • GV-1120 Any place a hired guard will monitor the video.
  • GV-1240 - Critical material, high security venues
  • GV-1480 - Casino, shipyards. Anyplace money is being handled & fast recording speed is required.

Other key features that differentiate the other Geovision DVR Cards aside would be an RCA external video out, multiple audio inputs and realtime display.

Avermedia & NUUO DVR Cards

Both of the Avermedia and NUUO PCI DVR Cards are very good selections as well. We happen to be partial to the Geovision dvr card line because of the fact that Geovision has been around with the longest successful track record. However, Avermedia and NUUO do make some very attractive alternatives.

If you are looking for a good alternative to the Geovision dvr car product line, both Avermedia and NUUO are good alternatives.
