Customer Reviews For GeoVision DVR Cards : GV-1240 DVR Card Series

GV-1240, 8 PCI-E (GV12408PCIX)
David McCullen This one records at 240 frames per second, so its really fast but not as fast as the GV1480 which I did not buy. This is recording the video in our factory and works well. The PC is in the server room which is climate controlled so I assume it will last for many years. Just some advice, just like in our factory the DVR records non-stop 24-7, so we had to go from 2TB to 8TB storage in order to get several weeks. So make sure that you have enough Hard Drive space since the GV-1240 records so fast. Good product and great service from DVRKits!
Travis Conrad I installed a surveillance system after my shop was vandalized. The customer service agent was very knowledgeable and patient when helping me find exactly what I needed. It took me a while to become familiar with the product but I haven\'t had any problems with it to date.

About the GeoVision GV-1240 DVR Card

GeoVision GV-1240 DVR CardDVR cards are without a doubt the most important item that you can have when it comes to video surveillance of any type, and with good reason. It is very important a decent DVR to exist in any security situation due to the fact that it can capture video in more of a dynamic fashion. Rather than having a definitive and and definitive beginning it will be a data file that can be accessed, edited, and used at any point. The GeoVision GV-1280 of course comes in the form of a PCI card, but there are still many who are unsure as to what a PCI card actually is.
PCI cards, or PCI-E cards plug into a slot on the motherboard and may then be accessed through the back of the computer. Once this is done, up to four cameras or recording devices may be plugged into the card which will be able to process the digital video and audio.

What's Special about the GeoVision GV-1240?

If you're looking into security systems you have more than likely seen quite a few DVR cards and you may be wondering what is so special about the GeoVision GV-1280 and how its high price tag can actually be justified. As it turns out, there are several features that put it ahead of the pack:
  • E-mails will be sent upon movement detection unless the area is designated as a camera blind spot.
  • Blind spots can be designated so that you will not receive notification or alarm for movement within specific areas, even if the area is within view of the camera.
  • Live Recordings
  • Designate a Schedule or Arrange for the Camera to become active when Movement is Detected.
  • View the Feed from your iPhone or iPad
  • Utilize Live Two Way Audio over the Internet.

Watch your Place from Home or Away

With the DVR PCI Card, you will be able to stream your footage over the internet and ensure that your home or business is perfectly secure. Because you are dealing with a PCI card rather than an entire unit, you can simply replace the card if something were to go wrong, and considering that it's inexpensive, you will find that it is considerably cheaper than replacing an entire unit.

Considerations

The system requirements are listed in detail on the website, though it is commons sense that one should have a machine that meets the minimums. The minimum requirements for the 1240A model are around 140 GB on the hard drive, though with the 1280 you will be recording a great deal more and you will in most cases want to ensure that you have at the very least a 1 TB hard drive on hand for your high definition video footage even if it is encoded. Never leave your home or business unattended again. Know exactly who is there, what they are doing, and be able to create a plan of action. Protecting yourself remotely has never been easier!
